Prerana Tamang

Eighth Cohort

Prerana Tamang is from Paanch Pokhari, Thangpal Rural Municipality-4, Sindhupalchowk. She passed her SEE from Shree Chilaune Secondary School. There are seven members in her family; her father, mother, grandmother, elder brother and two sisters. Her parents are farmers and agriculture is the only source of income of the family. Her sisters are studying at nearby government school and her brother is studying bachelors in Kathmandu.

After SEE, Prerana was quite confused about what to do further. So, one of her school teachers suggested her to apply for the Samaanta Fellowship. It was the first time that she heard of Samaanta Foundation. Then she decided to apply for it. Her teacher helped her with the forms and interview.  After few rounds of interview and interactions, Prerana got the fellowship. And completed her +2 studies in Hotel Management from V.S. Niketan College.

At first, she was uncomfortable with other fellows and friends at college. “I was scared and very shy to talk to people. But now I feel comfortable with Samaanta family and other friends. All my seniors treat me as a sister. They are so helpful and friendly”.
