Fourth Cohort

I am Bibek Shrestha from Kavrepalanchowk district at Pachhakhal-11, Ranipani. I completed my schooling from Shree Azad Higher Secondary School. I have a small family of me, my mother, and my younger brother. My father lives separately with my stepmother. Farming is the main occupation of my family.

When I was in school, I worked nearby at a small milk collection center. I earned some money from that work which I used to help with my studies. I had studied in a government school which provided a scholarship to me to continue my studies till grade 10. I completed S.L.C. in 2071 B.C from Shree Azad Higher Secondary School.

After S.L.C, I was planning to study science in a reputable college. With little earnings from my mother and my father’s hesitancy to invest in my higher schooling, my plans came crumbling down. But I didn’t want to leave my study. I decided to enroll in a Management Stream for my +2, which was relatively cheaper than pursuing other Streams.

Meanwhile, the Earthquake took a lot from the nation and my village, my home, and everything got destroyed. I lost my hope to study further. However, a few days later, my life took another turn. I got an application form for Samaanta Foundation through my School principal. I took their examination, group activities, and the interviews. After a series of such selection processes, I was finally selected to be among the few to receive this fellowship. From that point on, I learned to be even more positive and work harder.

I am studying Science in grade 12 in Pentagon college. I am simply grateful to have this opportunity. Besides academics, I have learned computer skills, English language, developed my interpersonal skills, and learned to adapt in a new environment.

I want to thank the members of the Foundation which have provided fellowships for students like me. I now have this great opportunity to continue my study. I am extremely happy with the Samaanta Foundation.
